My childhood is an inkspot
That bled onto the next page
I guess it makes sense why every chapter
Reads the same

And I think my heart is racing
Because I am forgetting how to breathe
And at 25, will my hair turn gray
From how much I overthink
There's a ghost that tends to haunt me
Every time I try to sleep
That presents itself in the form of watching
The people I love leave

No, this is not the nightmare
I've grown used to anymore

I've wracked my brain on the headway
Now I'm just standing in place
I tend to dwell so hard on thoughts
That always lead astray
So, do away with the sentiment
If the real problem is me
It's just so hard to break these cycles of complacency

I'm biting on the skin inside of my cheeks
And I've dread so long,
the sing-song psalms
from these scriptures I don't read
